The singer and songwriter Lucia Foster has in her DNA an
ingredient that explains her dense and raw relationship with rock/pop. Born in
Paris, daughter of an American father and a Brazilian mother, Lucia knows how
to take advantage of her dual citizenship and fluent use of the Portuguese and English
languages, as an extra instrument building her musical identity.
Her influence begins with her father, the multi-instrument
musician and entertainer Lou Foster, and flows down through a musical family. As
a child she observed different family members perform their different styles,
such as her cousin Jane Duboc’s Jazz, and Rock’n Roll from the “Maluco Beleza” Raul Seixas, at the time he was married with
another of her cousins, Gloria Jean.
By the time Lucia was 15, she was already involved in the
arts, doubling as an actress and singer on an amateur theatre group in Rio de Janeiro.
In 1991 Lucia began singing professionally and has been recognized as an
influential female rock singer. Her songs emanate great energy; it mixes a
melodic soft voice with a visceral energy and heavy guitar solos, which only
intensifies Lucia’s vivid interpretation. The songs are modern, and reveal the
